Exploring Gunung Leuser National Park
11:00 PM
It was my
first adventure visiting Bukit Lawang, a part of Gunung Leuser National Park in
Bohorok, North Sumatera, Indonesia. Gunung Leuser National Park is one of the two remaining habitats for Sumatran Orangutans (Pongo abelii). I came here one year ago with my
husband and my brother in law. We took the tour package to enter the forest and
to see Orangutans, because the tourists were not allowed to walk into the
jungle alone without the tour guides. There are many tour agents who have some
alternatives of trip packages, for examples, the 3 hours and 6 hours adventure exploring
the National Park.
Fortunately,
our tour guides were Abang Rama and Abang Nikko, friends of Abang Andre, my
brother in law, so we got a special price for this exploration (hehehhe….). For your information, the normal rate is about $250 - $600 per person. The rate is on Dollars or Euro because the most tourists who took the the tour were foreigners.

For hiking and walking into the forest area, we had to do good preparation, such as doing a bit exercise before hiking for warming up our body, wearing casual outfit, wearing sports or adventures shoes, bringing some drink water and food, and taking the camera as well. The tour package included drink water, some fruits, lunch, as well as tube rafting in the end of the trip.
It was very
marvelous experience for us. A day hiking made us tired yet happy because We could
see many plants, big and old trees, monkeys, peacocks, and of course Sumatran
Orangutans. Ahhh, what a lucky us, we could find many orangutans in this trip,
because our tour guides told us that sometime we could not see even one orangutan
in the tour.
It’s not an
easy tour, honestly. The track was such laborious and the jungle condition was
so unpredictable. We almost had an attack from a wild male orangutan, so we run
away for hiding. Luckily, we were safe. Alhamdulillah ^^
The tour was
ended up with swimming and tube rafting in the Bohorok river. It’s fabulous!!
Here are
some pictures we’ve been taken from our journey! Enjoy it friends!
